[Story] It was the late Heian Period. Shaga, a large bird monster living in the Kurama Mountains, is entrusted with guarding Ushiwakamaru, a boy she rescued on a whim. Passing through a village on their journey to Oshu, they heard rumor of a frightening monster in the mountains. "Recently, a piece of a bloody kimono and a horse saddle washed up on the river..." "There must be some kind of monster upstream that even eats horses." Unable to leave knowing that a monster was threatening the people, Ushiwakamaru and Shaga set out to eliminate the threat. But what they saw in the mountains was a beautiful young woman and a man from the village expressing their love... While fending off assassins sent by the Heike during their journey to Oshu Hiraizumi, Shaga discovers her new identity...
